The addition of the twelfth sprocket to the range of mechanical groupsets gives your riding experience unequalled versatility, increasing the quality and reliability of the Campagnolo trademark.
Campagnolo never ceases to evolve and the range of drivetrains has taken on a new sophisticated element: The 12-speed Record mechanical groupset is the iconic brand that has personified the world's greatest successes in cycling, in both professional and amateur races. The victories race bikes have achieved over the years with this groupset demonstrate the highest level of quality present in the processing, technology and premium materials that have always made it stand above the rest as a unique trademark product.
With the 12th sprocket, a new era begins. Enthusiasts will be able to gain unprecedented levels of versatility on their bikes along with the quality and reliability that Campagnolo is known for. The Record 12x2 groupset project was started from a clean slate and all of the components were redesigned. Performance was improved but the dimensions remained the same so that it is compatible with the frames and wheels currently on the market. The range of the mechanical drive system is extended by the Record Disc Brake components. The hydraulic disc brake system offers power and braking modulability without sacrificing ease of wheel maintenance and shifting.
Campagnolo Record Disc Brake Ergopower dual control lever
The Record Disc Brake 2x12-speed Ergopower controls take full advantage of the widely respected, proven Campagnolo technologies and have become indispensable for those who are in the saddle for extended periods. One such technology is Vari Cushion which offers an ergonomic, comfortable and safe support and grip. There is also the "One Lever, One Action" feature that assigns each lever one function to prevent shifting errors. The Ultra Shift mechanism enables upshifting up to three sprockets at a time and downshifting a full five.
Furthermore, the 2x12-speed Ergopower controls offer lever adjustability that utilizes Reach Adjustment to move the brake lever closer to the low grip, thus adapting to the different hand sizes. AMS Adjustment allows modulating the moment of shift engagement through the use of specific levers. The brake levers feature an unidirectional carbon fibre disposition to ensure they match seamlessly with the other components of the groupset.
Front Derailleur
The Campy Tech Lab designers focused on functionality, performance and compatibility when redesigning the Campagnolo Record 2x12-speed front derailleur which reveals various technical innovations. Starting with the leverage system, which is designed to speed up shifting. Less effort is required for shifting thanks to the split front link rod which avoids contact with the travel limit screw and the shape of the inner cage plate, designed to match the 12 speed chain's characteristics.
The micro-adjustments to the front derailleur position (which can be activated by the controls) make it possible to avoid any chain contact, even in cases of maximum crossing. The plate positioned on the aluminium outer cage prevents the chain from escaping when upshifting and increases speed in the downshift phase, as well as creating a quieter transmission.
As far as compatibility is concerned, the Record front derailleur allows up to 32 mm wide tires thanks to the upper connecting rod and the double fixing of the cablex.
Rear Derailleur
Designed to improve performance and function in every aspect, the mechanical Campagnolo Record 12-speed rear derailleur has an innovative shape that envelopes the sprockets better thanks to 3D Embrace technology, creating a double effect: allowing the chain to maintain optimum traction at all times, thus increasing the speed, power and precision of shifting; and ensuring that the derailleur is always kept an optimal distance away from the sprockets.
The redesigned cage has been optimized to work with sprockets from 11 to 34 teeth, allowing a single version to be maintained for all available sprocket sets. The upper part of the Record rear derailleur gearbox is made of carbon fibre-reinforced technopolymer, contributing to its robustness and lightness, while the stop adjustment screws at the back of the rear derailleur make modifications very simple.
Flat Mount Disc Brake Caliper
The Campagnolo Flat Mount brake calipers ensure powerful, modular braking in any situation owing to pistons measuring 22 mm in diameter. Brake pad return guaranteed by a magnetic system ensures that there is no friction at the time of brake lever release. A special metal plate positioned between the pad and the caliper piston, cushions the vibrations during braking.
The different Campagnolo brake calipers were designed to be mounted together with the disc chosen by the rider and to always guarantee the highest level of performance. Careful attention was given to making maintenance and assembly operations easy: the pads have wear indicators and replacing them is facilitated by the absence of physical return springs. Additionally, work was done on the insertion of the disc in the caliper to make changing the wheel easier and faster.
